We're back at Catch 22 again!
Sadly, and I know it is a very big "Catch 22", I can't see anything happening without a very big "sponsorship" deal of some sort.
The punters have been badly let down by the quality of gigs and this has propagated a level of general apathy that is going to be very difficult to shake off.
As ever this might seem very negative but this is the state of the music scene in Glasgow/Lanarkshire and I for one go to as many gigs as I can and would love to see some sort of regular "scene" where everbody turned up and supported it.
Unfortunately, and I apologise for mentioning Tennent's yet again, but all the main regular rock gigs in the Glasgow/Lanarkshire area were all artificially supported by Tennent's. The Cathouse, The Garage, King Tut's and even The Bruce Hotel out in East Kilbride, these gigs only managed to keep going through the funding from Tennent's - not through any good business sense or clever promoters. Granted some of the people involved managed to make enough out of Tennent's to continue but certainly with the Bruce Hotel in EK, as soon as the funding stopped so did the gigs.
Like everyone else I don't have the answer but I really hope someone else does!
