In much the same vein as the La Paz posts, there isn't really any negativity just some small observations over the difference between the "classic" Chasar line-up and the later Peter Scallan/Ian Tait versions. It's only people's opinions, that's what forums are for! You shouldn't take everything to heart Craig!

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the band again at Zico's and hopefully there will be plenty of others like me who are genuinely interested in the band?

Much of the band's rep now stems from the album, most often with people who never saw them at all,

As already stated in previous posts, the majority of the people who actively followed the Glasgow area "scene" were drawn to Chasar through the Rush material which then led to acceptance of their own (Rush style) material featured on the album. You can't blame people for only knowing the stuff from the album when that was all that (and still is) was available to them.

I really don't understand why you seem so keen to try and play down the Rush connection as that was what got them recognition in the first place.

You should also take it as a "positive" sign that people who never saw the band are still showing an interest in the album.

Something got lost in translation there mate. I was and am saying that it's a positive thing: the band has an international underground/cult rep based on the album and some demo/live bootlegs (as opposed to just being remembered by those of us who saw them back in 'the day' - however divergent those memories may be), which I think is kind of cool.

Anyway, I think I've made all the arguments here I'm going to re: Chasar. They're a great band and I'm looking forward to seeing them again. That's about that, really.

And of course I've just been waiting all this time for an excuse to visit sunny Wishaw ...

Coming from Alloa, that'll be like going somewhere nice on holiday! :-)

Does everyone realise that the Chasar gig in Wishaw clashes with the second round of La Paz gigs? Saturday 20th sees La Paz down the road in East Kilbride!

Though to be fair I can't see any interested Wishy punters making the effort to travel to EK when most of them can't be bothered turning out locally.

Hopefully the Chasar gig will go well though and it'll be interesting to see if they play the more popular Rush style stuff or go for the later stuff?

Just about everything on this forum has been positive about the Chasar reunion!

Most people are looking forward to this and if anything, the fact that people are willing to discuss the pros and cons of the original line-up and original material against the later Scallan and Tait line-ups shows that people are genuinely interested!

La Paz have now added Thursday 18th June at Zico's, Wishaw to this round of gigs and should hopefully manage a decent turnout again for Wishaw.

Unfortunately, I think Chasar might just have shot themselves in the foot for their Wishaw gig as they have now decided to make their first appearance on home soil in Alloa at the Funhouse on May 30th!

Without a doubt this will affect the Wishaw turnout on June 20th as it's now unlikely that many of the "home" fans will make the effort to come down to Wishaw whereas it would have been more likely if this was the first gig.

Again, I'd like to be proved wrong and see a good turnout for Zico's.

This gig will be a good indicator of whether Zico's can still do well as a rock venue!

If the locals don't bother to turn out for a band like Chasar then there's not much hope for anyone else?

Agreed!

Though I think a few folk are hesitant over whether it'll be material from "classic" Chasar or the later version.

Personally, I liked both versions (albeit slightly favouring the earlier material) and am hoping that Alec and Ian will be sharing vocal duties this time round.

No comments on the gig?

Surely somebody was there?

Did they play the classic material or the later material?

There's a pretty accurate review in the "Reviews" section of this forum!

Things have gone quiet again in the Chasar camp unfortunately with no news of any forthcoming gigs.

The "website" at http://www.chasar.co.uk has no information or content apart from a couple of amatuer photos.

Alec Pollock is obviously still out and about with No Dice and hopefully somebody will make some effort to renew the momentum of Chasar before it's too late as they're still quite easily the most professional and interesting band on the Scottish rock scene.
