Why is it taking the music industry so long to get any decent music related stuff out on Blu-ray?

The only major release seeming to be advertised recently was the Rush Snakes & Arrows live set.

All the films that everyone's already got on VHS and DVD have all been re-released on Blu-ray so why not the music stuff?

Music on video, dvd etc has always been a tiny percentage of company sales.

The UK is notoriously slow to embrace new technology anyway so Blu-ray itself will take a while to get accepted.

Blu-ray also really needs a HD telly (1080p) rather than a HD Ready telly (720p) to be worthwhile as there's no obvious difference between good upscaled DVD and Blu-ray on an HD Ready tv.

All the UK supermarkets have dropped the Blu-ray prices right down to try and push it - Tesco are selling some Blu-ray titles cheaper than the same titles on DVD!

I've already seen Blu-ray players for £120 including DivX playback and 1080p upscaling so prices are definately dropping.

I pre-ordered the S&N Blu-ray and it was the same price as the DVD - which seemed like a good deal!

Unfortunately there isn't anything on the Blu-ray that isn't on the DVD and the "extras" are nothing more than some outtakes from the stage videos.

It's good that they seem to be addressing the pricing and keeping it low but there really has to be a lot more stuff on offer before most people will make the switch from DVD.

Sadly though the actual technical quality of the Rush S&A lets it down. The DVD disc seems to be better than the Blu-ray. The contrast throughout the Blu-ray version seems to have been lost amongst the obvious noise from where they've tried to fix some underexposed stuff with almost no blacks anywhere in the program material.

This doesn't seem to be a problem on the DVD version. Possibly shot for DVD and later they decided to stretch the original video to rush (sic) out a Blu-ray version.

Sadly, the "extensive extras" advertised on the cover are nothing more than a couple of intro movies and a few extra songs missed from the European gigs.

Better than nothing but not worth going for the Blu-ray version.
