96.3 Rock Radio are promoting their new look website with a series of ads that proclaim that their new look web site is much better than before!

WELL, NO IT'S NOT!

They've changed the old website for a generic design that is probably made to look the same for all 3 UK Rock Radio stations.

Unfortunately, they desperately need to consult a web-designer as the new design is so clumsy it's the internet equivalent of a Billy Rankin guitar solo! :-) Just a load of generic music news with no relevance to Scotland!

Finding anything on the new site is now just so much of a chore that I'm willing to bet that most folk just give up.

One of the most popular things on the old site was certainly the photo galleries. Now instead of a clickable gallery for each series of images there's now single shots that you have to click through one by one! Useless and nobidy will take the time to bother.

Will Rock Radio take any notice? I doubt it - especially when they've ignored any comments about the constant stream of U2, Simple Minds, Franz Ferdinand and other trendy-student-indie-pop in their playlists!

Well done Messrs Anderson and Crawford for alienating the genuine Rock Music fans even further! Go back to Real Radio and let Tom Russell take over!

P.S. Bizarrely, Billy Rankin is now one of the more professional presenters on 96.3!

Have to agree - very clumsy generic design that's lost all the "local" appeal of the original.

I've given up on it, even the gig guide just goes to generic pages featuring U2 and the other mainstream UK tours etc!

However, as you point out, 96.3 Rock Radio don't listen to what anyone wants and as long as the advertising money rolls in they won't change anything.

Seconded! It's lost all its "local" appeal, you can't find anything relative to Glasgow and it appears to be made up of content taken from all the general rock music news sites.

But as everyone knows, Rock Radio don't listen to their listeners and (as rockchick says) as long as the advertisers don't complain they won't change a thing!

The galleries are still there but due to the bad site design you have to click on the initial photo and then the link will take you back to the thumbnail gallery!

Not obvious, I know but it works.

I do agree that the "new" generic design is pointless and has lost any of the character that the original used to have.

Shame, because the actual station seems to be going the same way as it grows and is getting further and further away from the promised classic rock!

Is this the same site with Tom Russell on it?

I was into it until I realised it was rather mainstream indeed. A touch annoying, then again, I never really bother listening to online radio stations for too long before getting bored and forgetting about them :S

Yes this is the station with Tom Russell!

While they do broadcast online they also have "normal" FM and DAB outputs as well.

Glasgow was the test station, followed by Manchester and now there's also a DAB only North East station as well!
