From back in the day when Lanarkshire still had a multitude of venues putting on live rock music - The mighty Glasgow at Park Lane, Hamilton back in 1983! Click on the photo to see the rest of the shots from that gig! Mick Boyle - Glasgow - Park Lane, Hamilton 1983

Excellent! Brings back a lot of memories!
I remember hearing the Stranded single on Tommy Vance's Friday Rock Show way back in the early 80's.
I ran into Archie Dickson in the town a few months back - I wouldn't have recognised him if he hadn't been pointed out to me.

Nice shot! Old Mick Boyle eh? I was at that gig! Glasgow played Park Lane twice in the 80's. Park Lane went the same way as all the Lanarkshire venues and just faded away after getting very little support from the locals. Jim

That's the Lanarkshire way I suppose? Probably because it's just as easy to travel into Glasgow to see the same bands people don't bother. I think the market is there for "older" rock fans though, the guys now in their 40's & 50's, who can't be bothered to try to travel in with all the neds on the trains etc. Difficult as it takes a while for new venues to get established and even longer for the punters to get into a new routine. jim

I agree, the market is certainly there for the "established" rock fans but I don't know if a local gig is sustainable in the internet age? Very difficult to balance the size of venue to the level of interest especially where cost is always the deciding factor! rock_bottom

I doubt it as even the larger Glasgow (the city) gigs are all dependent on funding from the parent companies and are involved in complicated tax offset schemes and generally run at a major loss. This is why places like the Academy change hands (and name) on a regular basis, i.e. now the "O2" Academy. Even smaller venues like King Tut's has always been completely funded by companies like Tennent's. morley

Oh the nostalgia! Photos very much "of the time"!
I was very probably at that gig! I also remember seeing Neat Speed in the same venue!
