Hello. I put together the Chasar website a few years back (links below).

The original "classic" line-up of Alec Pollock, Jim Marshall and Peter Marshall recruited Peter Scallan from East Kilbride band, Passion Play to become a four piece - and to try to become a USA styled melodic rock act.
That never really worked and Scallan left to join NWOBHM act Samson.
The band tried - very briefly - a couple of singers, including Pete Scanlan, before settling on Ian Tait.
...but they had already lost the majority of their fans who preferred the Rush stlye original line-up.
Needless to say, the second 4-piece version of Chasar didn't last very long and they split up.
Hardly - Ian stayed with the band for the better part of three years, which was their most successful touring period. The material they did with him was easily as heavy as the earlier stuff and since he sounded a lot like Geddy Lee, those into the 'Rush' type stuff were more than supportive. The demos got a lot of Radio One/Radio Clyde airplay, they had a broadcast headliner at the Kelvingrove festival etc. etc.
Alec Pollock now plays guitar in the club band, No Dice, who are currently doing the round of pub gigs. Unfortunately there's not really anything that would appeal to Chasar fans as No Dice play mostly lightweight pop rock covers, like Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams etc!
Although I've not often seen them, I know that No Dice also play Zep, ACDC, Rush, Van Halen (all of whom Chasar covered as encores throughout their career)... and they've been known to throw Gypsy Roller into the mix on the odd occasion.
There's a lot of info on Chasar available at:
